Lift and relay
Fixing sunken and uneven interlock from the base up
Pavers do not sink on their own. The base underneath settles, washes out or shifts with frost, and the surface follows it down. Lifting and relaying deals with that directly: we take up the pavers in the affected area by hand, add and regrade the base material, compact it, and lay the same stones back in their original pattern, level with everything around them.
Why it is worth doing
- It fixes the cause. The low spot is rebuilt underneath, so it does not come straight back.
- It is safer. Dips, humps and raised edges that catch feet and wheels are gone.
- Water runs off again instead of pooling and soaking into the base.
- You keep your stone. The same pavers go back down, so the repair blends in.
- It usually costs much less than tearing out and replacing, and only the problem areas need to be done.
Good for
- Sunken tire tracks and low spots that hold water
- Raised edges and trip hazards
- Steps, borders and edges that have shifted
